- ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪2 years ago I was suffering with incredible pain which limited my day-to-day activities and was faced with having a total hip replacement. Since I knew several people who had the total hip surgery and knew of its limitations, restrictions and longevity, I decided to do some research. I found Dr. Schmitt while researching hip surgery online and learned of the Birmingham Hip Resurfacing procedure. I called and made an appointment and found that I was a canidate for the surgery. I am now totally pain free, have increased mobility and have no limitations as to activities I can participate in. The recovery went smoothly with minimal discomfort and I was back to work in 5 weeks. What a blessing to have accidently stumbled upon Dr. Schmitt online.
